Every other year, EWNJ sponsors its "Salute to the Policy Makers Dinner". This event honors New Jersey women directors and officers of major corporations as well as women leaders of comparable achievement in the public sector.
The event has given some of the State's most prominent organizations and their Chief Executive Officers an opportunity to recognize the achievements of women in their companies and on their boards. The dinner also raises funds for the EWNJ Graduate Scholarship program. During the event, EWNJ members attend a private reception to meet the CEO's and the honorees.
The 2006 Salute Dinner honored 34 of the top women in business, government, education and non-profits in NJ. This biennial event, which in 2006 raised over $125,000, raises scholarship money for NJ women returning for advanced degrees. Since 1986, over $800,000 has been given to more than 250 deserving women. For more information about the EWNJ scholarship program, go to our
Scholarship page, or call 609-249-7982.
EWNJ is the only organization in New Jersey which offers substantial funds to women seeking advanced degrees.
The next Salute Dinner will take place on May 15, 2008. Nominations will be accepted through December 14, 2007.
Top Company for Working Women in NJ TO BE Named by EWNJ
The 2008 EWNJ Salute to the Policy Makers Dinner Chair, Mary Hartman, PhD, announced that nominations are open for the 2008 Business Honor Roll honoring the top NJ corporation for working women.
Our Honor Roll Award recognizes companies in New Jersey in which employees trust the people they work for, take pride in their work, and appreciate the people they work with. As an organization focused on senior level women, EWNJ developed its honor roll award in 1998 to recognize companies in the Garden State that have:
- Made significant gains in the representation of women at the highest levels and ensured that they are actively involved in corporate governance;
- Have successfully implemented policies that help all employees balance work and family responsibilities.
Past recipients of this award have included Lucent, Johnson & Johnson, Schering-Plough, Prudential, Summit Bank, Hoffman-Laroche, and Horizon Blue Cross/Blue Shield of New Jersey.
The companies we honor have fostered initiatives such as mentoring and coaching as well as flexible scheduling. They have created climates that recognize and encourage diversity, including the hiring, promotion, and retention of talented women. Such practices have a positive impact on both men and women, and are proven to benefit business.
