EWNJ’s Statement of Support for Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson
On Monday, EWNJ President Emerita Michellene Davis joined the confirmation hearings in D.C. to witness a historic moment as Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson is considered for a seat on The Supreme Court of the United States. If confirmed, she will be the first Black woman to ever serve as a Supreme Court Justice. This long-overdue moment is a testament to the onerous challenges and obstacles that Black women face when pursuing top leadership and executive positions, including representation on the highest court in our land.
Few on the court match Judge Brown Jackson’s qualifications. If confirmed, she will bring years of lived experience as a federal judge, public defender, and a Black woman to The U.S. Supreme Court. Her perspective is invaluable and will have profound implications on the future of our country. Executive Women of New Jersey is proud to bear witness to this important moment, and we call on Congress for a swift confirmation of Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson.
